Background
Bega were looking to upgrade their huge milk processing plant in Tatura Victoria to reduce their massive energy bills and to fix a number of failed, but not easily accessible highbays. Shine On was selected due to the market-leading lifetime ratings and warranties of our highbays and canopy lights and our unrivalled experience installing LED in food manufacturing facilities.
The project
Before recommending a solution, we undertook a number of lux simulations in key areas to ensure we exceeded AS1680 with the lowest possible wattage light. Our solution involved upgrading the old 400 watt metal halides in the food production areas to our 120 watt LED Canopy and in all other areas to our 97 watt H-Flux Mk4 LED Highbay. All floodlights were upgraded to various wattages of our Orbon Mk3 Floodlight. The interior lights included motion sensors to ensure they were only on when the areas were occupied, further increasing savings.
Results
Following installation the site now saves 84% on its lighting consumption, which will deliver 10 year savings of over $3.5 million and paid back within only 13 months!
