Background
Bloomfield Collieries wanted to upgrade to LED at their coal mining site in Ashtonfield to improve lighting quality and reduce energy and maintenance costs. It is also an important part of their environmental sustainability contributions. Shine On was selected due to the overall quality of our offering. In particular, quality products backed by long term warranties, a full turnkey solution, references from other large projects completed in the area and a locally available team.
The project
Prior to finalising the project, lighting designs and trials were undertaken to ensure everything would be completed to their requirements. Floodlights and highbay fittings were then installed in the main workshop, as well as floodlights in the carpark and highbays in the storage areas.
Results
The mine site is now saving 78% on their annual lighting energy costs with a payback period of only four months! They have found the new LEDs to be a massive improvement in terms of quality of light across all of the areas that have been upgraded.
