Background
The body corporate wanted to upgrade the lighting to LED in the common areas of the apartment following a 50% increase to their electricity rates. Shine On was selected as part of a tender process, as our recommended fittings delivered the highest energy savings and they had the longest warranties.
The project
All lights in the carparks, stairwells, storage areas, control and maintenance rooms were included as part of the project. The fluorescent tubes that were found throughout the site were upgraded to various versions and wattages of the Shine On Juko IP66 LED Batten. Emergency fittings were used in the stairwells and tunnels and motion-sensored versions replaced the tubes in the carparks and offices. This ensured the lights were only switched on and consuming energy when required.
Results
Following completion of the upgrade, the site will save 80% on their lighting bill within the common areas. That equates to over $37,000 a year and all paid back in less than a year and a half!
