Sunshine Hospital

Western Health manages three public hospitals, Footscray Hospital, Sunshine Hospital and Williamstown Hospital, as well as a number of other community based services.

Background

Through a very competitive tender process we were selected to provide a full LED lighting retrofit of Sunshine Hospital. Western Health’s main objective was to reduce their carbon footprint.

Project

After a thorough site assessment we proposed a selection of LED tubes, backlit and circular panels, and downlight alternatives to replace Sunshine Hospital’s old inefficient lighting. Following installation, they were able to save 68% on their lighting consumption which will deliver a massive ten year saving of over $2.3 million. What’s more, they have reduced their greenhouse gas emissions by 1,717.40 tonnes per annum!

Western Health hospital after Shine On LED upgrade

We were exploring LED lighting technology to reduce our greenhouse emissions and progress our environmental sustainability/corporate social responsibility agenda so we decided to send out a tender. Shine On really stood out during the tender process, especially their professionalism. We are really happy we were able to achieve a 68% reduction on our lighting energy consumption.
