Background
Wandana Heights Tennis Club had long been using outdated metal halide lights for their courts. Most of the lights were either not working, or they were getting to the end of their life with lighting levels below any required standards for tennis.
The project
The Club wanted to retain the existing poles which is often not possible when upgrading to much heavier LED technology. Luckily the Shine On Caravel Mk2 LED Sports Light is designed specifically for this purpose. Its light weight and flexible mounting options make it perfect for pole lighting retrofits.
In a great effort to minimise the impact on the tennis club, we managed to upgrade 20 poles with one light on each pole in a single day.
Results
The courts upgraded have gone from an average lighting output of less than 100 lux to 450 lux – club competition standard for tennis. An added bonus of the upgrade was the energy savings of over $1,000 a year due to the lower wattage LED replacement. Win win for all
